Description

The ALOQA platform enables the simple exchange of location information between LBS participants such as the target person, the user and the LBS provider. LBSs can be realised very efficiently with minimal energy requirements using this platform. The platform's USP is that it supports proactivity and push services, recognising spatial events automatically and making them available to service providers. Such events include a person leaving/entering zones or detecting the proximity of two users.

Requirements

The J2ME Demo Midlet requires the Java Location API (JSR 179) on the mobile device. The ALOQA TraX Java library itself works without the Location API. Also you can specify your own position source as a Position Provider for TraX.

Usage Instructions

A tutorial covering the integration of the ALOQA TraX Java library in a Java MIDlet and how to use the API can be found here. Detailed information on the provided functions is available at the javadoc-based class reference of the API.
For additional information see the ALOQA Developer Zone at http://dev.aloqa.com.

New Feature released: Push Notifications

A new version of the ALOQA TraX API has been released today. Besides some improvement on efficiency we added a complete new feature: Push notification for any third-party application

Until now a mobile application could only open a connection to a central server and poll for updates. There was no way to push a message to a mobile client except for dedicated devices like a BlackBerry. So the only way for sending a message from one mobile client to another was to send the message to a central server and make all clients periodically request updates from the messaging server. This leads to unnecessary data traffic, a delayed delivery to the client and load on the server.

Aloqa TraX provides a push notification, an easy and efficient way to sent messages directly to other clients. So you do not need to setup an additional server, you can simply use the Aloqa TraX framework. Even if your application is not location-based you can use TraX for pushing data to any mobile devices. Also, if you need or already own a server-based solution, it is also possible to send messages from a server to any mobile device via our various APIs.
The expanded tutorial shows how to integrate the push feature in existing applications. The new API and an example J2ME MIDlet can be downloaded in our Developer Zone.
