Exactly, you're essentially right with a little more meat on the bone, of course. Any role-player in security could put them up, including the SAPS, police forums and/or community groups etc. They are cheap and can be hand crafted with nothing more than a black marker or a tin of paint. Beta versions of QR prints onto Kodak photo postcards 4 x 6 size - cost ZAR 1.72 each and are done on street corners with any bluetooth cameraphone in less than 5 minutes. They can also be spread easily and shared and/or traded electronically or otherwise. They can be put onto anything - including buildings, bus stops, shops, books, buses, taxi's, airports, noticeboards in hospitals and clinics, universities, shopping malls and supermarkets, beaches, rivers, trains and train platforms etc, etc One free click, you've got the info - swop, trade, share, store, add an update (to develop) and connect on social networks

The objective here is the establishment of a security information system which plugs into communities. Although the application has scope to provide a wide variety of information types. A current, free security information network covering links to community policing, the local constabulary, breaking news and crime 'flashes', including a wider definition of security related issues such as food security, ecological security, disease and health security etc is what Code X is all about. Features include: Community updates of status quo on the ground; Police 'crime flashes'; Community police news reports; Warnings and advice; Also -Imagine you arrive in New York on your first visit - you see a QR code with an easily recognised SECURITY symbol - you click and get ALL the local info you need to safely navigate - FIFA 2010 World Cup visitors, no doubt would find this a handy feature
