This application addresses a need for timely notifications to commuters on delays in the arrival of the municipal bus service within the city of Johannesburg, whether due to strikes, breakdowns or traffic. Buses not arriving on time, or at all, are a security risk for commuters, especially for women and school children. By creating a mobile phone-based notification system, commuters can make timely alternative travel arrangements from the safety of their homes, employment or schools, without being made vulnerable on the streets of Johannesburg.
