Twizness .com - Find stuff through the power of social media
Solution
========
Find places and things utilizing the power of existing social media services such as Twitter, Foursquare and Yelp. Twizness also includes its own privately moderated repository of locations.
Using it is as simple as sending a tweet from your favourite Twitter client on your mobile device. It's free and no sign-up is required.
To get started create and account on Twitter if you don't already have one. If your mobile Internet enabled device (phone, computer etc.) supports geo location, log into Twitter and go to Settings, Account and check the "Tweet Location" checkbox.
Then simply post a tweet as follows:
@twiznessbot find [keyword]
For example, @twiznessbot find restaurant
Twizness will look for restaurants in your area and tweet the results back to you in about a minute.
If you do not have geo location enabled, or would like to search in other areas, use the "near" keyword as follows:
@twiznessbot find [keyword] near [location]
For example, @twiznessbot find restaurant near 5th Avenue New York
Sustainability
==============
Twizness operates completely autonomously. Twizness does have its own location repository, but information is largely gathered from third party services such as Foursquare and Yelp. These third party services impose limits on their APIs however, and so might not be sustainable for large user numbers. A possible solution is the expansion of the local respository.
Location data for a user's request is gathered through the Twitter service and Twitter clients, and as such is largely dependent on the third party. A possible solution to this is the development of native, proprietary Twizness applications on various mobile platforms.
Pilot testing plan
==================
Twizness has been running for more than a month now, and has been beta tested by myself and a few close friends. It has also been reviewed by Twitter, Yelp and Foursquare to meet their requirements.
