Betavine Academy is a cross-platform community-based learning centre for mobile development. Here you can learn everything you’d ever want to know about how to develop new mobile technology, create amazing user experiences, and turn your mobile idea into a successful business.

Cross-Platform

Many sites provide information that’s targeted toward one particular technology or platform. At Academy we think it’s better to lay it all out in one place. So often developers face tough decisions about which technology to deploy on which platform to achieve their end result. By presenting a comprehensive overview of what’s out there we aim to support developers in making the most informed decisions possible.

Beginner to Advanced

We’ve rated every item and tagged it with an icon to show if it’s suitable for beginner, intermediate or advanced level learners. Some tutorials take you right through from beginner to advanced topics in a particular field, so where relevant, we’ve shown that too.

This means you can go straight to the topic and degree of difficulty you require without having to waste time browsing around. If you’re an absolute beginner to the field, don’t worry! A glance through the introductory resources indexed here will quickly get you started.

Community-Based

We believe real knowledge starts and ends with the people who actually use the technology - you. That’s why we think it’s crucial that you have the chance to contribute material, feed back about what’s already there and discuss the issues that really matter to you.

We see it as mobile education by the mobile community for the mobile community. Soon we’ll start uploading tutorials written by technical experts on our team. At the same time we’d love to start profiling some of your ideas. If you have a tutorial or a guide you’d like to publish to a wider audience please email it in. Later on, more interactive functionality will be designed into the site so you can upload, edit and browse resources in a rich community-focused web environment.

Three Simple Steps

We’ve sub-divided our content into three main areas – mobile technology, user experience development, and business tips for mobile start-ups – which, if you follow them in that order, will take you from A-Z in mobile development education.

Mobile Development addresses the nuts and bolts of how to make your application work on your chosen platform. Our User Experience resources (coming soon!) will help you fine-tune your technology so it really fits your users’ needs. And our Learn Mobile Business area (also coming soon!) will tell you everything you need to know if you’re looking to take your mobile idea to market.

Each item has been rated for degree of difficulty, content type (eg, video or text), and usefulness.
